Welcome to Newfoundland Academic Island International – Canada’s Island Destination

Our Mission

The mission of Newfoundland Academic Island International (NAII) is to provide international students with the opportunity to choose an educational path that best suits their interests and goals.  For example, you may decide to attend a Newfoundland and Labrador school to obtain a high school graduation diploma. Alternatively, you might choose to study for a shorter period to improve your English Language skills, or to be immersed in a unique cultural experience in the oldest region in North America. The way that you choose to experience what Newfoundland has to offer is up to you!

Newfoundland has many great advantages to offer you. When you decide to participate in the NAII student education program will have many advantages. Lets start with the people.

There are places on this earth that continue to live inside of you long after you’ve leave them. Newfoundland is such a place. When you are new to our province, the faces you will find here may be unfamiliar at first – but they will be friendly, and helpful as you make your educational journey. If you are like most people that visit here, you will meet many people who may become lifelong friends.

The province of Newfoundland and Labrador is among the most secure and culturally sensitive places in the world. In Newfoundland, your journey can be as adventurous colourful as you want it to be. You will be free to travel to any corner of the Island that you choose, so bring a good pair of shoes!

Our Pristine, Unspoiled, Natural Attractions are Known Worldwide 

Newfoundland is a beautiful part of the world. We have thousands of kilometres of coastline, where you can observe playful humpback whales, dolphins, as well as many seabirds. The rugged mountains are among the oldest in the world and are excellent for hiking to view huge panoramic views of fjords and huge untouched boreal forests that are teeming with wildlife.

There are four distinct seasons of the year and almost every sporting activity can be enjoyed in one season or another.

Welcoming You to Our Homestay Program

The centre of Newfoundland’s family culture is the kitchen table. It has been so for hundreds of years. When you study here you will experience this firsthand as you participate in our Homestay Program. Students enrolled in ourHomestay Program get to live with Newfoundland families that offer caring and considerate homes. Our Newfoundland families encourage international students to become a member of their family, not merely a “lodger”. No matter where you ultimately live, we are sure that you will maintain these relationships for the rest of your life.

Homestay Families are supported by a Homestay Manager and regional Coordinators, who work together to support students, academically and socially. Our program does everything possible to allow you to thrive in your education without worrying about the security your accommodations.
